Experience " Wayne's "

This live music bar and restaurant, one of the most popular food and drink establishments in Nice, is situated on the "rue de la Préfecture " in the heart of Vieux Nice, and attracts a plethora of different customers from all over the world; whether young or old, tourists or students, you'll find them all having a good time in " Wayne's ".

Of course, " Wayne's " hasn't always been as it is today. Starting out as a grocery store where the restaurant now stands, a takeaway was added in 1986, and after 1988, the bar, concert area and stage were added and " Chez Wayne's " was born.

In late 1996, the bar became known as " Wayne's ". The homely interior is decorated with a vast array of memorabilia from old music posters and guitars on the walls, to the fighter plane crashing in through the ceiling- obvoiusly the pilot was desperate for a pint! This is hardly surprising due the large selection of draught and bottled beers, spirits, cocktails and soft drinks on offer, all at reasonable prices (especially during happy hour until 9pm), all served up by the capable hands of
Frank the barman.

As for the restaurant side of things, the menu is Anglo/Americain based, with a few Mexican dishes thrown into the bargain, with the option of having a light bar snack or a full 3 course meal.

The starters are all very tasty, and the homemade burgers are large and succulent, ranging from a simple cheeseburger to the massive francfurtur, bacon, egg and cheese burger. The main meals are a sight to behold: huge portions, and all the produce is fresh.

The fillet steak is plump and juicy, and the pepper sauce is a perfect spicy accompaniment. As well as all this, there are vegetarian and children's menus, or alternatively there is a plat du jour at 59 francs in case you have difficulty choosing from the menu.

There is also a selection of desserts if you can possibly fit any more food in!
The wine list is simple but boasts a very good St. Emilion and a decent Crozés Hermitage, and the reasonably priced house wine makes good quaffing material, whether you're eating or not.

To add to your enjoyment of the evening, a live band plays each night, starting from 9pm, with live bands coming all the way from London to play a mixture of your favourite covers and some of their own material.

Each Sunday, however, " Wayne's " offers you the chance to become a star with the only live karaoke in Nice, with Wayne himself on drums playing with the " Chez Wayne Experience ". Even if you don't plan on singing, come and listen to the others and cheer them on by dancing on the tables.

So, whether you're eating or just drinking, come to " Wayne's " for a great night out with excellent, friendly service.
