Tribune to Sacha Sosno

Born Alexandre Sosnowsky in 1937 in Riga to a Baltic father and a Nicoise mother. In 1935, the family settled in an appartment at the Regina Hotel,Nice. In 1948, Sacha started to paint and met his famous next door neighbour, Henri Matisse. In 1956-58, he met Yves Klein through the musician Jean-Pierre Mirouze. This overwhelmed him and he stopped painting.

• After studying in Paris (political science, oriental languages,law,Film and Cinema Institute at the Rue D'Ulm), he came back to Nice and started up a magazine, Sud Communications with some friends.In June 1961, he wrote an article on "l'Ecole de Nice" .
• Archaeologist, cinema photographer, printer and television reporter,he worked in the realms of the art world in which he was more oftenthan not a mediator.
• 1969-1973, he participated in a venture initiating the artic video and sociological art, he wrote a booklet on ballet with Carole Du Tertre and Pierre Henry, he went to New York to stay with Arman.
• 1974-1977, round the world trip on his yacht, the Go West, exhibition in Caracas, first sketchings for his sculptures.
• Returned to France, to Tourettes Sur Loup where he began his first sculptures ( a written off car).
• 1978 Went to India and completed his first works in bronze.
• 1979 Conceived fabric drawings for fashion designers.
• 1983 First private exhibition at Musée des Beaux-Arts, Jules Chéret in Nice.
• From this time onwards, he has occupied varius studios in the old town and now spends his time either in Nice, his vineyards in Bellet and New-York.
