La Tribune de Sacha Sosno

Sacha Sosno said in 1995 that artists in Nice can be split into one of eight movements. Nice has always been a melting-pot of artistic talent thanks to its palm-trees, hills, Bellet wine and artistic tradition from Brea to Matisse. The Riviera has always seduced painters.

But one can equally consider the Ecole de Nice as a pictoral school of thought in which the artists have to be divided into families. All of which have to be considered in relation to the history of contemporary art and the aesthetic tendancy of the individual artist, be it drawn from a local, national or international level.
We have therefore followed the schema drawn up by Sacha Sosno:

• Three founding members,
• the first generation of which a few members belonged to the "Fluxus" movement,
• the second whose most notable members were those of the "Support-Surface" and "Group 70" movements
• and artists who are in the sphere of influence of the "Ecole de Nice"
